Gloucester Lions Club recognizes Healthy Vision Month

Dear  Gloucester CommunityLions Logo

In 1925, Helen Keller attended the Lions Clubs International Convention and challenged the Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.” The Lions accepted her challenge and for over 90 years we have made sight programs aimed at preventable blindness a central focus.

This is why May, which is also Healthy Vision Month, is such an important time for us to reflect on our mission to serve our community. In 2015, the Gloucester Lions Club provided 72 pairs of glasses, 42 eye exams, and provided free vision checks for the students of Head Start. We could not have served Gloucester in this manner had it not been for the generous donations of caring individuals in this community.

As we recognize Healthy Vision Month this May, we hope that you consider making a donation to help us continue to answer the challenge that Helen Keller gave us 91 years ago. Donations can be sent to:

Gloucester Lions Club

P.O. Box 862

Gloucester, VA 23061

Thank you for helping us serve the Gloucester community last year, and we look forward to continued service in 2016.

In deep gratitude,

Lion Glenn Sturm
