Rural homelessness often goes unseen, but there are local citizens who critically need our help.
The Northern Neck Middle Peninsula Housing Coalition (NNMPHC) was created in 2013 as a way to collaboratively meet this need by applying for state and federal funding on behalf of our community. The group provides resources to make fast, appropriate referrals and prioritize clients based on needs. The NNMPHC also collects homelessness-related data that helps to support the expansion of affordable housing options and related services.
Housing is a basic component of living a successful life. Human service providers are encouraged to join the NNMPHC to better understand available client resources and potentially provide wrap-around services to shelter clients. Concerned citizens are also welcomed!
The NNMPHC meets every other month, with the next meeting scheduled for Monday, July 18 from 1:00-3:00pm at the Bay Transit Facility in Warsaw. To join the mailing list or address questions, contact Hunter Terry, Bay Aging AmeriCorps VISTA Member, at hterry@bayaging.org.
