Gloucester Resource Council Meetings and Frequently Asked Questions

So you’ve heard of the Gloucester Resource Council and you’re thinking of attending this month’s meeting. Hooray! We understand that you may have questions. Hopefully this post will help.

GRC

What is the Resource Council?

This is a network of community resources and agencies to identify needs, promote services, collaborate, and advocate for the needs of the those residing in Gloucester County.

Who can attend?

Anyone! GRC Meetings are open to the public. This includes but is not limited to non-profits, agencies, businesses, churches, and interested citizens of the county. Come and see what it’s all about!

When do we meet?

Many counties have their own resource council. The one for Gloucester meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 9:30-11:00 in the Gloucester County Public Library (Courthouse location).

What should I bring?

If you’re representing an organization, we recommend bringing fliers about opportunities or any upcoming events that you are working on. We also suggest bringing business cards if you have them and a willingness to talk so that you can network with others. Oh and you may want something to take notes on.

What is required of me if I attend?

Nothing is required of you other than an introduction to let us know who you are and why you’re here. It’s okay if you’re just there to listen! We hope that you learn something that you can either pass on to a friend or take part in.

When voting happens in the meeting, what do I do?

Each agency or organization represented at a meeting is allowed to have one vote. Even if more than one person represents a group. As a resident, you have a voice. Please make your vote count.

What kind of agencies are involved already?

There are many different kinds services that come together. Our group is not limited to but does include: Parenting, counseling, housing, literacy, aging, special needs, and more! You may hear us mention our ‘How Can We Help You’ brochure and the Town Crier. These are two quick listings that you can search, share, and even add your own organization to.

The clinic is open Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to answer phones, take messages, locate and refile medical charts, make copies, and a variety of other common (but crucial!) administrative tasks. The clinic is very flexible about scheduling, and whether you can volunteer once per week or once per month, you are most welcome!

Please help support this valuable community resource! Call the Volunteer Resources office at 804-210-1368, option 5, or send an email to JaymeS@gmfc.hrcoxmail.com to find out how you can make a significant difference in your community!
