Parents Night Out

Enjoy an evening out while your kids enjoy an exciting night at the YMCA. Children will participate in activities including games and crafts, July 20 and August 17, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (dinner included) Ages: 3- 12 years, Cost: $15 for members/$20 for non-members

Dominion Virginia Power Heat Assistance

Dominion Energy’s EnergyShare’s Cooling Assistance program can provide help with cooling equipment repairs or purchases and with payment of the energy bill to operate cooling equipment. Check out the Virginia Department of Social Services website

Rappahannock Community College (RCC) hosting info sessions for RCC Anthem Scholarship Program

PrintThanks to a generous $50,000 gift from HealthKeepers, Inc. for Anthem HealthKeepers Plus Medicaid Plan members, RCC is able to offer scholarships to students to take advantage of many of RCC’s disciplines.
In support of the new Rappahannock Community College and HealthKeepers, Inc. partnership, which will fund scholarships for high school juniors, seniors and recent graduates, RCC will host a series of informational sessions, designed to answer questions that students may have about the program on the following dates:
• Glenns Campus on June 27 at 10 a.m.
• Warsaw Campus on June 27 at 10 a.m.
• New Kent High School on June 27 at 6 p.m.
• RCC King George on June 28 at 6 p.m.
The scholarship, known as the RCC Anthem Scholars program, is available for students who have at least “C” grades or better and are interested in the following subject areas:
• Cybersecurity
• Pre-Nursing / Practical Nursing
• Emergency Medical Services
• STEM Science
• STEM Health / Pre-Med / Pre-Physical Therapy / Pre-Dental
• Transfer degree
Classes in those subject areas will be available both in class and online. Students are encouraged to apply at the RCC website,

Suicide Prevention & Opioid Misuse Task Force Meetings

The next Suicide Prevention & Opioid Misuse Task Force meeting will be June 21st, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bay Aging Meeting Room at 5959 Fiddlers Green Road. These meetings are organized by the Coalition for Healthy Virginia Communities (CHVC) in partnership with the MPNN CSB Prevention, Health & Wellness Division. Community Task Force meetings focus on two preventable public health issues: Suicide Prevention and Opioid Misuse. These meetings are also available via audio-conferencing!
