Introduction to “1-2-3 Magic” Offered to Local Families

Families have an opportunity to learn about an evidence-based discipline program that uses straightforward methods for managing child behavior on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018 at Page Middle School. The event includes a meal for families at 5:30 pm, sponsored by Five Rivers Women’s Club, with the seminar beginning at 6:00.

The seminar will be facilitated by Jennifer Tingley, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist who currently serves as the Special Education Coordinator for Gloucester County Public Schools. She has a doctorate in educational administration and served as a school psychologist for 17 years. She’s also a parent of two daughters who enjoys facilitating parent groups.

Based on feedback from participants, upcoming seminars will focus on specific behaviors such as whining, sibling rivalry, talking back, and defiance. Participants can attend as many or as few as they deem appropriate or convenient.

Guinea’s Crab Walk/Run (1 mi) and Shad Run

The Crab Walk/Run and Shad Run at the Guinea Jubilee will take place the morning of September 29th. Registration can be made ahead of time online here (bottom right of webpage), by mail (Guinea Jubilee Shad Run/Crab Walk, c/o Kati Cook, P.O. Box 1014, Gloucester, VA 23061), or the morning of the race from 7:30-8:30 am at Buck’s Store. The Shad Run will start at 8:30 am, while the Crab Walk/Run will begin at 9:00 am. Both courses start at the Bena Post office and end at Buck Rowe’s Store.
 
Awards will be given to all children participating in the 1 mile Crab Walk! Top male/female finishers will also receiver awards for various age groups.

Gloucester Senior Safety Fair

Date: October 3, 2018
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Newington Baptist Church, 6169 Main Street, Gloucester
Cost: $3/person – includes hot lunch!

Speakers and exhibitors from various organizations will answer questions and present information specifically geared to retirement or near retirement-aged individuals. Join for a day filled with useful information, exciting speakers and fun door prizes! SPACE IS LIMITED!
