GUEST Volunteers Needed

No photo description available.Since April 1, 2019, the Housing Resource Advocate at the GUEST Day Shelter has worked with over 70 individuals and families from the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck to assist them in finding housing and financial assistance. Over 27 individuals found permanent housing solutions with the assistance of nearly $24,000 in Rapid Rehousing Funds.
 
In preparation for the winter shelter season, volunteers are needed to help staff the day and night shelters.

Empathetic Customer Care

The Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce and Gloucester Department of Economic Development are pleased to present “Empathetic Customer Care” on Tuesday, November 19 from 8:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. This event is part of the Quarterly Business Breakfast series for the business and non-profit community and will be held at Gloucester Arts on Main, 6580 B Main Street, Gloucester, VA.

Please join for breakfast preceding a presentation and panel discussion on practical tips for businesses to compassionately serve their customer base, identify behavioral changes in customers, and deal with real-world situations. This educational event will prepare staff and teams from restaurants, banks, retail, offices, or in-home services to interact with a diverse population. Clinical psychologist Dr. Paul Malone will speak on “Dealing with Dementia” and his commitment to transitioning our local areas into Dementia Friendly America (DFA) Communities. Executive Director Marie Kolendo of the Alzheimer’s Association and a representative from the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board will join the panel to share their expertise and experiences.
