Gloucester Arts on Main to present “The Story of a True Likeness”

Gloucester Arts on Main will present “A True Likeness,” the story of the discovery and recovery of Richard Samuel Roberts’ photography work. Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. Phil Dunn, co-editor of the book, will share slides and stories of his extensive time with Roberts’ work.

Dunn is a retired professor of art at the University of South Carolina and a professional photographer living in Mathews.

Roberts’ work, nearly 4,000 glass plate negatives, sat in a dark, dusty crawlspace seemingly forgotten for half a century.

The event is free and open to the public. A cash bar will be available.
