GM Care Clinic’s Casino Night

The annual Casino Night, Vegas by the Bay will be held at the Abingdon Ruritan Centre on Saturday, March 9th! Proceeds will benefit the Gloucester-Mathews Care Clinic. The sponsors pre-party begins at 6:00 p.m. and general admission is at 7:00 p.m. Casino Night will include Texas Hold’em, roulette wheels, poker, black jack, and much more! All casino games are played with fake money.

VEAFCS Yankee Candle Fundraiser

veafcsyankee_imageThe Virginia Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (VEAFCS) currently has an online fundraiser through Yankee Candle running through July 10th! If you’d like to support VEAFCS, please visit and enter the Group Number 990082182 in the “Start Shopping” box. 40% of all purchases go to the association – funds raised go to professional development for Family and Consumer Sciences agents serving the Commonwealth of Virginia through education in health, nutrition, personal finance, and human development.

Senior Festival

The 2019 Senior Festival, hosted by Gloucester Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, will be taking place Thursday, February 21, from 2 PM – 4 PM at Beaverdam Park. For adults 60 and older, this event will include an afternoon of activities, food and socializing. There will be carnival games, photo ops, prizes, and more! Bring a dish to share and Parks and Rec will provide popcorn and drinks. This event is free but registration is required – contact Parks and Rec at 804-693-2107 to register (deadline of February 13th) and be sure to check their Facebook event page for more information!

Clean Gloucester Day

Gloucester Clean Community’s Clean Gloucester Day will be held Saturday, March 16th from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Individuals, groups, and businesses are encouraged to help the community by participating in this county-wide litter cleanup!
The Clean Community Office provides litter cleanup supplies including litter grabbers, buckets and trash bags. Coordinator Leslie Bowie reports that most participants have identified a preferred cleanup location, but the office can also suggest areas where litter collects.
